Description

Humanin is a 24-residue mitochondrial-derived peptide (MDP) encoded within the mitochondrial 16S ribosomal RNA region (MT-RNR2). Its sequence (Met-Ala-Pro-Arg-Gly-Phe-Ser-Cys-Leu-Leu-Leu-Leu-Thr-Ser-Glu-Ile-Asp-Leu-Pro-Val-Lys-Arg-Arg-Ala) corresponds to an approximate molecular weight near 2,687 Da, and it remains one of the most frequently referenced mitochondrial-derived peptides in the cellular and biochemical literature.

Research interest centers on how this peptide may participate in cytoprotective and cellular stress-response signaling, mitochondrial biology, and metabolic regulation. Reported lines of investigation include its interactions with apoptosis-associated proteins and binding partners such as IGFBP-3, alongside models of oxidative and metabolic stress.

  • Mitochondrial-derived peptide (MDP) biology
  • Cytoprotection and cellular stress-response models
  • Metabolic and bioenergetic pathway research
  • Apoptosis-signaling and receptor-interaction studies

Supplied as a lyophilized powder at research grade. Reconstitute with a suitable sterile diluent and store cold, protected from light, reconstituting shortly before use per standard peptide-handling practice. Purity is assessed by HPLC and mass spectrometry, with a certificate of analysis available on request.

Research Use Only: This material is supplied strictly for laboratory research. Not for human or animal consumption. It is not a drug, food, supplement, or cosmetic and has not been approved by the FDA.
