TB-500 corresponds to the actin-binding region of thymosin β-4, retained in a shorter, more stable synthetic form. Because Tβ4 is a key regulator of actin — the protein that drives cell movement — TB-500 is widely used as a model compound in preclinical cell-migration and wound-repair research.
